AIM-IRS Accomplishments

  • AIM-IRS has a National Career Assistance Mentoring Program (CAMP) which is delivered by the local chapters. CAMP has been a model program with many of its elements adopted by IRS and other organizations. The structured nine month one-on-one mentor program offers an opportunity for highly motivated individuals to pursue professional development of career building. Each month there is a training module designed to enhance and strengthen the participant's knowledge, skills and abilities. The program is a course curriculum in ELMs, item number 22940. Since its inception in 2006, over 350 Protégés have completed/graduated the program. Over 500 Coordinators, Coaches and Mentors have contributed to its success.   • AIM-IRS supports and partners with IRS on recruitment activities such as open house/Information, college fairs and Diversity Day Celebrations nationwide. AIM_IRS also distributes job announcements from the Recruitment Office, Embedded EEO Directors and Operating Division Recruitment Teams to its membership (including, retirees and associate members) through email or posted on regional and chapter websites.

  • AIM-IRS partners with Historically Black Colleges & Universities (HBCUs) during student union fairs. Members provide workshops to the student body periodically during the school year on a variety of topics. The organization also partners with local colleges and universities to conduct free or low cost workshops and Adult Education courses.

  • The Annual Business Meeting and Training Seminar (ABMTS) is a function of the national body and serves to showcase the activities of the organization, exchange of ideas, opinions, and experience in support of a socio-professional networking system as well as, provide a forum to conduct national business as determined and prescribed by the National Board of AIM-IRS. The ABMTS generally have 25 - 30 workshops on various career and personal development topics

  • AIM-IRS chapters provide members with educational workshops tailored to IRS’ strategic and business goals, career and life long learning progression assistance, mentoring and mock interviews and other job opportunity/promotion assistance.

  • Each year, through our national scholarship award program, the Modestine Haynes Scholarship is awarded to seven recipients who are selected through a competition. The award is a $1,000.00 scholarship towards their education. The funds must be used to offset tuition or book expenses. In 2013, a second memorial national scholarship was added named the Shirley Ray Scholarship, in honor of a former national executive secretary and IRS EEO officer who was highly dedicated to the mission of AIM-IRS. At the 2013 ABMTS, the organization was able to award 17 scholarships to deserving individuals to continue their education at institutes of higher learning.
